Chew Valley and the Hogweed Trot

10k race results

On the 2nd June 2025, club runner Steve Lambert took part in the annual Hogweed Trot.

Organised by the Hogweed Trotters Running club this 10k race around the quiet country lanes of Yate is similar to Clevedon AC Midsummer 10k, albeit a slightly more undulating route.
It was a perfect sunny evening with a slight breeze and 334 competitors took to the start line. The first 1k was very congested and unfortunately Steve struggled to get up to speed, however as the field spread out it was easier to maintain a reasonable pace.
Over the final 2k Steve managed to latch on to a couple of local runners who helped him over the line in a time of 55.34, knocking just over a minute off last years finishing time and he was very happy with that!!
Altogether a smashing race, well organised with great marshals and good facilities.

On the day before, Theresa Goldstone represented the club at the popular Chew Valley 10k – a beautiful rural route with a famous hill! Theresa was pleased to finish in a time of 51:38.
