Great gains at Cross Country!

Gwent XC League, Blaise Fixture

Saturday 6th December saw the 3rd race in the 2025/26 Gwent League XC and what a fantastic turnout CAC had!

An astonishing 34 of us turned up to race at Blaise Castle making us the 6th best represented club on the day.

In challenging windy and muddy conditions everyone ran superbly. Highlights being Jonah Murray grabbing a top 10 spot finishing in 8th (despite rolling his ankle with 400m to go!) and Steve Wood 3rd V50.

Both the men’s and ladies teams finished a very creditable 10th place overall. The men’s V45 team stormed to 1st place in their category so a big shout out to Steve Wood, Luke Murray, Ben Burns and Matthew Evans.

Special mention to Stuart for arranging the gazebo and all those who made and brought the delicious array of cakes/cookies.

Our strong numbers at XC this season is paying off. The men are currently top of Division 2 with a healthy 489 point lead over their nearest rival. The men’s V45 team are also 3rd overall in that category.

The ladies are 2nd in Division 3 with a gap of 133 to the third placed team.

So all to play for in the final two races in February and March 2026 for a very successful season.
