Marathon Success in Germany!

Berlin Marathon, Sunday 24th September

Fantastic running by Clevedon AC members in Berlin!

On Sunday 24th September, Tom Gange and Fran Rawlings enjoyed a great day representing Clevedon AC in the historic Berlin Marathon.

Tom describes the day…

“Such an enjoyable race. It was the last of the major marathons for me, so that added a fair bit of excitement.

There was a real buzz at the start, with Kipchoge just a few yards ahead of us.

All the way round there were so many bands playing and the support from the crowds was far better than I’d expected. It was a perfect morning for running, thankfully a fair bit cooler than it had been there for the previous couple of weeks..although the sun came out towards the end but fortunately I was nearly done by then – so perfect timing, to enjoy a few beers in the afternoon sun.

Running under the Brandenburg Gate with only a few hundred metres to go, and comfortably within a PB time was definitely a massive marathoning highlight.

I would totally recommend the Berlin Marathon to anyone who’s thought about it…it’s the 50th Anniversary next year and the ballot is currently open”
