Midlands Relays Results & Weston-super-Half

Results from Sutton Park 12 and 6 Stage Relays and W-s-M Half – 26th/27th March 2022

Last weekend saw club members racing at home and away, with consistent, targeted training over the last few months producing some great results.

A team of 18 travelled up to Sutton Park on Saturday to take part in the Midlands Road Relays – a top class event attracting strong teams from across the country.

Roseanna Stanfield took part in the U17’s event first, with the Ladies team next up in the 6-stage race. Stages 1 and 3 are longer at 5.3 miles and were run by Polly Atherton and Natalie Southernwood, with Jemma Lewis, Hannah Feely, Helen Ball and Laura Meech completing the shorter 5k legs. Fantastic efforts from everyone resulted in a 24th place finish out of 52 teams, with a special mention to Hannah, racing for the first time as a Clevedon AC member. The Men’s event consists of 4 long legs, ran by Jack Richardson, Jack Last, Luke Murray and Steve Wood. The 5k stages were completed by Matt Crocker, Jonah Murray, Gary Lewis, Martin Hewlett, Matt Browning, Alex Murray, Clive Richards and Nick Hides. Under increasingly warm conditions over the day the team raced well, completing the relay in 30th position out of 53 teams.

Closer to home, Emma Foster ran the Weston-super-Half and, despite the hills and heat, was thrilled to take 7 minutes off her PB, crossing the finish in 2hrs, 6mins. Well done to Emma and also to her two daughters who ran the Community Mile….medals all round!
