Race Round Up 🏅

Big Cheese, Brabazon, Vienna, Brighton, Wales

Lots of great events have taken place recently, with club members racing on & off-road, both at home & away.

Theresa Goldstone completed the San Domenico 20 Miler in Merthyr Tydfil – a favourite on the race calendar for Spring marathon training. Conditions were good and Theresa finished in a great time of 2:59.24.

Alex Murray, Ben Sharp, Tom Abrahams and Matt Evans headed to Cheddar to take on the infamous Big Cheese – a challenging 15 mile race across the Mendips. Matt was first home for the club in 1:58.39 (1st MV50), followed by Alex 2:06.38, Tom 2:10.10 and Ben 2:25.21.

Laura Meech and Matt Crocker took part in the Brabazon Half Marathon in Bristol. In it’s second year, the event also includes a 10k and is held on footpaths and cycleways around Bradley Stoke and Patchway. Laura was 4th Lady in 1:35.09 with Matt finishing in 1:26.02.

Marathon season is starting, and Rory Donovan and Leo Packham chose a stunning location for their event, travelling to Austria for the Vienna City Marathon. Conditions were good and the training paid off with both achieving personal best times. Rory crossed the line in 3:15.29 with Leo home in 3:26.27 – congratulations both!

The popular Brighton Marathon also took place on Sunday. Now the 3rd largest marathon in the UK, the race is part of a weekend festival of running around Brighton & Hove. Jenny Morgan and Benji Miles have been putting in the miles over the last few months and finished just a few minutes apart, with Jenny home in 3:37.22 and Benji in 3:44.12. Well done both!
