Weekend Race Results 🏅

Great running in the UK and Spain!

Grey clouds and blue skies….

Clevedon AC members were running in the UK and in Europe this weekend at a great mixture of events.

Bracing the torrential wind and rain on Sunday, Tanya Baker-Gill and Richard Grant competed in the Mendip Muddle, a 20km multi-terrain race with plenty of elevation!

Jemma Lewis has been targeting her training towards one of her favourite races, the Abingdon Marathon. Despite the less than ideal conditions Jemma still enjoyed the course, finishing in a great time of 3:23.34.

Theresa also battled the elements over at the Bath & Bristol Railway 10k. The route is entirely on tarmac, offering runners a road race experience through green countryside.

Club runner Steve Lambert finished his season with the hot and sunny Palma Majorca half marathon on Sunday 20th.  Thank you Steve for your race report:

“Conditions were promising for a fast time, with a sunrise start (8.00) and a flat first 10k, but the sheer number of runners taking part on narrow streets and the need to take on liquids at each water station meant the hoped for pb soon disappeared.

It was a smashing run though, plenty of interest in all areas, running through the ups and downs of the old town was challenging but lots to see, however crowd support was quite limited.

The organisers had made sure there were plenty of water stations throughout the course with a selection of electrolytes, water and fruit at each.

Steve finished 27th in his age group with an official time of 2.10

After completing the Superhalfs series in Lisbon and taking part in 10 other half marathons this year Steve’s looking forward to a rest before next year with Dubai, Zagreb and Edinburgh half’s already in the diary.

Thanks to club members for their great support this year it means a huge amount!!”
